FLEX EVANGELIST
This session offers something of interest for everyone in the Macromedia community.
Flex is a Macromedia serverside technology that delivers Rich Internet Applications (RIAs) with unprecedented ease of development.
For Flash developers, Flex also publishes to the Flash player. Flex development uses both ActionScript, and an extended set of the components familiar to Flash MX 2004 developers. With Flex, Macromedia is broadening the Flash development community to include traditional team developers.
ColdFusion developers will be interested because ColdFusion 7's new <CFFORM> extensions (i.e. format="flash") are similar in implementation to Flex's MXML syntax. And of course, Christophe is Flex's Ben Forta ;-).
Dreamweaver developers will be interested to see the ease and richness of applications Flex can deliver. Flex applications can be built in the Flex Builder application which is an extension of Dreamweaver. Where Dreamweaver excels in tag based HTML authoring, Flex Builder excels in XML authoring. But the results of Flex's XML authoring exceed far beyond what it possible in HTML.
Managers will be interested to see how Flex makes it easy to deliver rich GUI applications that combine the usability of desktop applications with the administrative advantages of the web.
NOTE: NEW LOCATION. This meeting will be at UNLV. We will meet on
